Mid Century Industrial Foundry Pattern Mould (9)
This is a really interesting mid 20th century industrial pattern mould, originally used in the casting process.
The piece consists of a wooden outer frame housing a shaped internal pattern, finished in its original bright red paint. Rather than being the mould itself, this would have been used to form the cavity in sand casting, giving you a nice bit of insight into how these components were originally made.
The form itself has a great sculptural quality to it, with flowing, almost organic lines, likely relating to a mechanical or automotive part. You can also see original workshop details throughout, including the hand-marked “JIGSAW” to the side and small vent points within the pattern.
A really strong decorative object, ideal for display, wall mounting, or as a prop piece, with plenty of character and a good honest industrial feel.
